Manganese phosphate is a chemical generally used in the coating process of metal parts working in oily environment. However, the phosphate coating color is close to black. It is used in combination with high temperature manganese phosphate activation.
After the manganese phosphating process takes place, it enters the protective oil bath. The protective oil both protects the parts against corrosion and allows the parts to work easily by absorbing the oil. It is widely used in automotive and weapon industry. Although the coating thickness is lower than thick zinc phosphate coating, it retains the oil longer. Therefore, it minimizes the wear of movable parts.
Method of Use:
The amount of coating applied on the metal part is 15-20 gr/m2. The phosphate bath temperature of 75-85 °C is sufficient for the coating to form. Depending on the total acid and temperature, the process time varies between 5-15 minutes. Suitable for iron, steel and cast iron parts.
